Nova in Delphinus

Nova Delphinus 2013 discovered by Koichi Itagaki of Yamagata, Japan, in an image taken on Aug. 14.

Before erupting, the nova was a magnitude +17 star reaching a peak magnitude of +4.5 on Aug. 16 2013. Member Honor Wheeler, taking images of the night sky as part of our Perseid meteor watch campaign captured this image on the 16th at 21:40UT.
