We will be meeting every Thursday evening but from 24th May 2012 no longer at the Manor House.We have moved to a new home at Sutton-at-Hone, see other pages of the website for details of the venue.All Astronomy students, past, present, beginners and advanced are welcome.

Those of us setting up can do so between 8.00 and 10.00am BST (Someone will be there from 7.30), depending on the weather we can pack up around 4pm BST. Bring your own chair and observing equipment if you can.

Transit of Venus Final Organisation
This will be an informal meeting, feel free to come along and chat about anything astronomical, for those wanting to come and observe the transit of Venus with us pop along so we can organise travel and make the best use of car sharing. We also have some jobs that need doing so if you are handy with a drill and know how to put a lock on a cupboard you are needed! You are welcome to bring telescopes if you want to observe in twilight.

Flask of coffee/tea – caffeine!
Snacks to keep your sugar levels up (cafe wont be open until after event)

Optional
Eclipse viewing glasses
Telescope and equipment for safe solar observing (PST/H alpha, Solar Filter/projection box.)
If you don’t have observing equipment bring your camera for some potentially great sunrise pictures.

If we have clear skies then we will be doing some Solar observing but if the current rainy/cloudy weather persists! then Martin Crow will be giving a question and answer session on astronomical imaging and processing.

2012 Webb Deep Sky Society Annual Meeting.
Members may be interested in the annual meeting of the Webb Deep Sky Society which takes place this coming Saturday (June 16) at the Institute of Astronomy (IoA), Cambridge.

The followings talks are planned:
Jeff Young - Experimental Visual Observing.
Dave Adshead - Deep Sky Imaging from the Kingfisher Observatory.
Owen Brazell - Observing Galaxy Clusters.
Bob Marriott - The Life of Dawes.

The professional talk will be given by Prof Katherine Blundell on Distant Galaxies.

Commercial Stands from Green Witch, Cambridge University Press, The BAA and the Webb Deep Sky Society.

Entrance to the meeting is £10 to include tea and coffee throughout the day along with a buffet lunch. Coffee will be available from 10:00 with talks starting at 10:30. The meeting is expected to finish around 17:30.
The IoA is situated on Madingley Road (CB3 0HA), about 1 mile east from J13 of the M11 (note: if travelling from the north there is no exit at J13 and it is necessary to travel to J12 - about 1 mile further on - and return northwards up the motorway to J13). Free parking is available at the venue.
